NEW DELHI: An unnamed Islamic cleric based in Europe has issued a ban on women touching fruits and vegetables resembling the male sexual organ to avoid "sexual thoughts".

The Egyptian news website Bikya Masr on Wednesday quoted the cleric whose diktat featured in an article on el-Senousa, a religious publication. The cleric has said that women should not even get close to bananas or cucumbers. "If women wish to eat these food items, a third party, preferably a male related to them such as their a father or husband, should cut the items into small pieces and serve," the cleric dictated.

According to the cleric, bananas and cucumbers "resemble the male penis" and therefore could arouse women or "make them think of sex." The cleric also added carrots and zucchini to the list of forbidden foods for women.

LUCKNOW: Darul Uloom Deoband, the self-appointed guardian for Indian Muslims, in a Talibanesque fatwa that reeked of tribal patriarchy, has decreed that it is "haram" and illegal according to the Sharia for a family to accept a woman's earnings. Clerics at the largest Sunni Muslim seminary after Cairo's Al-Azhar said the decree flowed from the fact that the Sharia prohibited proximity of men and women in the workplace.

"It is unlawful (under the Sharia law) for Muslim women to work in the government or private sector where men and women work together and women have to talk with men frankly and without a veil," said the fatwa issued by a bench of three clerics. The decree was issued over the weekend, but became public late on Monday, seminary sources said.

At a time when there is a rising clamour for job quotas for Muslims in India and a yearning for progress in the community that sees itself as neglected, the fatwa, although unlikely to be heeded, is clearly detrimental.

Even the most conservative Islamic countries, which restrict activities of women, including preventing them from driving, do not bar women from working. At the peak of its power, the Taliban only barred women in professions like medicine from treating men and vice versa. But there was a never a blanket ban on working, although the mullahs made it amply clear that they would like to see the women confined to homes.

The fatwa, however, drew flak among other clerics.

"Men and women in Sharia are entitled to equal rights. If men follow the Sharia, there is no reason why women can't work with them," said Rasheed, the Naib Imam of Lucknow's main Eidgah Mosque in Aishbagh.

Mufti Maulana Khalid Rasheed of Darul Ifta Firangi Meheli -- another radical Islamic body which also issues fatwas -- criticized the Deoband fatwa as a retrograde restriction on Muslim women.

The fatwa was in response to a question whether Muslim women can take up government or private jobs and whether their salary should be termed as `halal' (permissible under the Sharia) or `haram' (forbidden).

Well-known Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawwad, however, justified the fatwa. "Women in Islam are not supposed to go out and earn a living. It's the responsibility of the males in the family," he said. "If a woman has to go for a job, she must make sure that the Sharia restrictions are not compromised," he added, citing the example of Iran, where Muslim women work in offices but have separate seating areas, away from their male counterparts.

In Lucknow, a city with strong secular and progressive traditions, where Muslim families train their daughters to be doctors, engineers and executives, there was a sense of shocked disbelief even in conservative quarters that such a decree could come from those who consider themselves to be advocates of the community.

"I am also a working woman and also ensure that my Sharia is not compromised," said Rukhsana, a lecturer at a girl's college in Lucknow and a member of the executive committee of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB). "It's not necessary that one would have to go against the Sharia when going to work."

"Name one Islamic country which does not have a national airline and does not hire airhostesses? If I know correctly, even the Saudi Airlines has hostesses and they don't wear a veil," said Shabeena Parveen, a computer professional in the city.

LAHORE: Some influential people hammered nails into a boy’s legs after subjecting him to brutal torture in Moro, a private TV channel reported on Monday. Some influential people captured 11-year-old Mehtab, an orphan, near old railway station in Moro. They accused him of theft, and instead of reporting the matter to police they ruthlessly tortured the boy before hammering iron nails into one of his legs. The cries of the boy attracted the attention of his neighbours who rescued and transferred him to the hospital. Due to his critical condition, the boy was referred to the Nawabshah Hospital. Moro SHO said that the boy’s neighbours took him to the hospital in a critical condition, but none of his relatives had come to register a case. Judicial Magistrate Sohail Ahmed took suo moto notice of the incident and ordered the local police to immediately arrest the culprits.

The two women were found guilty of selling food during the fasting hours of Ramadan, thereby violating Islamic sharia law.

Hundreds of people gathered to watch as Murni Amris, 27, received three lashes and Rukiah Abdullah, 22, received two at a mosque in the city of Jantho, southeast of the provincial capital, Banda Aceh, Indonesia.

“The two women were found selling rice in a stall at noon during Ramadan. The sharia forbids selling food during fasting hours at Ramadan,” said Marzuki Abdullah, Aceh’s sharia police head.

Ms Amris owned the food stall where Ms Abdullah was selling the rice.

Muslims are supposed to fast from dawn to dusk during the holy month of Ramadan, which took place during August and September this year, but there are exceptions in cases such as illness or pregnancy.

Aceh, on the northern tip of Sumatra island, is one of several areas of Muslim-majority Indonesia where Islamic sharia laws have been adopted.

The conservative province passed a law last year that imposes death by stoning on Muslim adulterers and a law under which homosexuality is punishable by long prison terms.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – Saudi Arabia's most senior cleric was quoted Wednesday as saying it is permissible for 10-year-old girls to marry and those who think they're too young are doing the girls an injustice.
The mufti's comments showed the conservative clergy's opposition to a drive by Saudi rights groups, including government ones, to define the age of marriage and put an end to the phenomenon of child marriages.

"It is wrong to say it's not permitted to marry off girls who are 15 and younger," Sheik Abdul-Aziz Al Sheikh, the country's grand mufti, was quoted as saying.

"A female who is 10 or 12 is marriageable and those who think she's too young are wrong and are being unfair to her," he said during a Monday lecture, according to the pan-Arab Al-Hayat newspaper.

Al Sheikh's comments come at a time when Saudi human rights groups have been pushing the government to put an end to marriages involving the very young and to define a minimum age for marriage. In the past few months, Saudi newspapers have highlighted several cases in which young girls were married off to much older men or very young boys.

Though the mufti's pronouncements are respected and provide guidance, the government is not legally bound by them.

On Sunday, the government-run Human Rights Commission condemned marriages of minor girls, saying such marriages are an "inhumane violation" and rob children of their rights.

The commission's statement followed a ruling by a court in Oneiza in central Saudi Arabia last month that dismissed a divorce petition by the mother of an eight-year-old girl whose father married her off to a man in his 50s.

Newspaper reports said the court argued that the mother did not have the right to file such a case on behalf of her daughter and said that the petition should be filed by the girl when she reaches puberty.

Responding to a question about parents who force their underage daughters to marry, the mufti said: "We hear a lot about the marriage of underage girls in the media, and we should know that Islamic law has not brought injustice to women."

The mufti said a good upbringing will make a girl capable of carrying out her duties as a wife and that those who say women should not marry before the age of 25 are following a "bad path."

"Our mothers and before them, our grandmothers, married when they were barely 12," said Al Sheikh, according to Al-Hayat.

There are no statistics to show how many marriages involving children are performed in Saudi Arabia every year. And it's also not clear whether these unions are on the rise or whether people are hearing about them more now because of the prevalence of media outlets and easy access to the Internet.

Activists say the girls are given away in return for hefty dowries or as a result of long-standing custom in which a father promises his infant daughters and sons to cousins out of a belief that marriage will protect them from illicit relationships.

Many of the people I have worked with over the last few years have openly said to me that they would draw the line at 10 years for a wife. I also know for fact that many of those people have pictures and videos of children as young as 6/7/8 being penetrated and used as sex toys, on their mobile phones.

I have often voiced my opinion to their superiors and been told, "They are still young boys, they will get over it". These 'young boys' were 20-30 years old. But that is of no matter, the fact is that many muslims of my aquaintance have illegal images on the mobiles and the 'elders' see nothing wrong with that. Islam is practicing instutionalised peadophillia. It is an accepted fact that 50% of children in certain countries are abused by family members, be that mentally physically or sexually.

Recently a young girl was murdered by her mother, because she was pregnant. This girl had bought shame on the family. The fact that she was raped by her brother was not shameful. He suffered no punishment.

Earlier this year a Danish newspaper commissioned a number of cartoonist to produce works to illustrate the effect that Islam was having on freedom of speech in the west. In Islam it is against the law to depict the holiest of holy paedophiles in a drawing of any kind. This amounts to idolatry, in itself a big NO NO. It has never been against the law to do this in the west.

So I ask, why is it that in every Middle Eastern country are there pictures of the King/President/prime minister/terrorist leader etc plastered all over the place. Large pictures of the current incumbent line the streets. Large edifices adorn the public places. I am sure we all remember the images of the statue of Saddam Hussein being toppled in Baghdad What is different about these people? Nothing. They, because of their position within their society, are adored and 'worshipped', albeit often in an enforced fashion, in a similar way that the holiest of holies is worshipped. Idolatry rules and the debacle over a few cartoons can be seen as a smoke screen to cover other much more sinister agendas.

Hassan Nasrallah is one such character that will go down it history as a 'Saviour'. This bigoted Arab will not stop until Israel has been crushed. He has said as much on many occasions.

At this time he is the 'darling' of the people. He will be held high in esteem for some time to come. And how is he going to achieve this given that the recent war was all his doing? Currently in Lebanon a million people are displaced because of his warring actions. So to some he is not too popular. Already aid that should be given by the government is coming from Hizballah. Up to $1200 is being given to each family to help them restart their lives, lives that he destroyed! He is buying the people with money from the Iranian government. Within 5 years we will probably see, what is in effect, a Taliban society in Lebanon. The Taliban you will remember are hardliner Islam extremists who seek to oppress its people in the most draconian of ways.

Iran are such people and they fund Hizballah to the tune of $300 million each year.

I live in Israel, a state in the middle east. My state hasn't seen a lot of serenity moments. I rarely watch the TV without hearing about violence. Violence-that's the name of the game here in the Middle East. I can't remember if I passed one peacefull year…… no there is none.

The experts says that the people in Israel are more nervous and worried than in other places in the world. When you see terror attacks constantly, when you hear smell and feel the news every day almost hour after hour that means you are nervous.
That means you are uncertain, unsure, about the future and what's coming ahead.

Something about three weeks ago, my country was attacked by hostile terror organization. Hezbollah- the God party as is literaly says. how can such a group represent God? Is it God way to kill and destroy everything in your way in order to achieve your goals? I don't know, maybe it is. If so many people in the middle east and around the world are adopting this way maybe there is something here that I haven't revealed yet.

Fatal mistake

Now there is war, a war between the war mongers and Israel. People die in wars, it's a conventional routine. The Hizbolla thought that Israel would continue with it's restraint policy towards them and their stings from time to time in the border.
Why did he think so? Because Israel was on a new path and the government wanted to put all it's efforts into solving the Gaza strip issue. Because it was a relatively calm period of time and the Israeli economy started to show green lights.

Nasralla did a fatal mistake, he thought Israel will respond reservedly once again, he didn't estimate the new leadership and he should have. He should have thought about the new leader who would like to prove himself worthy.

He also thought that the people will refuse to enter a war, he knows that the israeli people doesn't want victims, he doesn't care about his people life, and they doesn't care either. The fundamentalistic way of the shiite believer is blind. Dying is the highest level of spirituality but he was wrong all along. The Israeli people have suffered constantly from the Lebanese missle threat, especially those who live close to the northern border.

The people want to remove this threat, permanently and live in peace and quiet. Now because of the radicalism of one group who decided it can attack without being punished the Lebanese people suffer, the Israeli people suffer, everyone suffers. The Lebanese have just kicked Syria out, they could start over and establish a democracy, but the Hizbolla has ruined everything.

The strategic point

Hizbollah is financed by Iran. This radical country supports and encourages the Hizbollah and other terror groups. Iran wants to be a major factor in the region, they resist the western world and want to influence the region and spread their belief. They help Syria and Hizbolla in the struggle againts Israel.

From the other side, there is the United States of America which wants to establish democracies in the world and in this case this war is serving their interests. The American way says that democracies bring stability. Meanwhile they tried to do it in Afganistan, and aslo in Iraq and the people seem to refuse to accept this ideology.
Iran wants a status others have but she hasn't. The threat of a nuclear bomb. That seem frightening for a second, considering the last declarations of ahmadinajad who called to wipe Israel of the map.

Israel won't allow Iran to reach such a point and hitting the Hizbolla means hitting the Iranians. The USA knows it, that's why Israel has got time to breath, time to leave accepted facts.

Today in Lebanon scenes of Lebanese attacking a UN compound. What they expect to achieve I dont know but they should know you cant kick armoured glass to break it thats why its called armoured.

The staff at the compound sought refuge in the basement. You can bet your life if the protestors were able to get to the UN staff they would have ripped them limb from limb and this isn't their fault.

They are protesting the fact that Israel is using weapons from America to bombard southern Lebanon. They make no reference to the fact that Hisbollah is using weapons from Syria and Iran to bombard Israel. A bit one sided methinks!

The best quote I heard today from an Israeli spokesman, "If you sleep with rockets don't expect to wake up today".

It is sad that so many 'innocent' people are being killed, but this is war. Shit happens.

Woman sentenced for treating maid as a slave

A Saudi woman accused with her husband of keeping an Indonesian maid as a virtual slave was sentenced Friday to five years probation and ordered confined to her home until she leaves the country.

Sarah Khonaizan, 35, pleaded guilty in May to harboring an illegal immigrant. In exchange, prosecutors dropped charges of forced labor and document servitude.

Authorities said that Khonaizan and her husband, Homaidan Al-Turki, hid the 24-year-old woman’s passport and forced her to cook, clean and care for their five children in their suburban Denver home, and that Al-Turki repeatedly sexually assaulted her.

The woman slept on a mattress on the basement floor and was paid less than $2 a day, the FBI said.

Khonaizan’s attorney, Forrest Lewis, said she plans to return to Saudi Arabia after she serves her time.

Last month, a Colorado jury convicted Al-Turki on charges that included false imprisonment and unlawful sexual contact by use of force or intimidation. He is awaiting sentencing Aug. 31.

Al-Turki, a linguist, worked at a Denver publishing and translating company and was a doctoral candidate at the University of Colorado.

This is not an isolated case. Such things will be happening in many Saudi households across America. Here in Saudi it happens to thousands of young maids every day. I find it difficult to believe that this woman is not in jail. She is a worthless despicable human. When she returns to Saudi she will no doubt get another maid and her life will be hell!

The upside of this story is the maid is still alive. Many don't survive.

Note also the husband was an educated man so this cannot be put down to tribal ignorance.

I am sure by now you have heard what happened to the brave American soldiers that were ambushed and taken hostage recently just south of Baghdad. These brave young men who volunteered to defend our country were murdered, tortured and butchered in the most horrendous way imaginable. Their eyes were gouged out, arms and legs broken, their private parts cut off and shoved in their mouths and finally their hearts were cut out.

Where is the outrage? Where is the protest about their human rights having been violated? Where is the ACLU? Shouldn't there be a nationwide outrage at what was done to these brave young men? Shouldn't there be, instead of talk about deadlines to withdraw, a renewed nationwide effort to wipe out this vile, despicable, murderous evil once and for all? Isn't it time that we let out all the stops and use whatever method necessary to eliminate the bastards that did this once and for all?

Where is our American media, from sea to shining sea, outrage at this barbaric, cowardly atrocity? Shouldn't there be protests in every American city calling for the heads of those responsible? Shouldn't this act rally all Americans to unite and defeat this evil? The attorneys concerned about the human rights of the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay (suspected Al- associates), now that brave American soldiers have been murdered, where is their outrage? Why do they remain silent? Are they more concerned about the rights of the enemy than they are our hometown heroes?

I am ashamed of what this country is becoming. The "Greatest Generation" those who fought in World War Two and those who supported their country in other ways during that time would never have sat silently for such a barbaric act. Yet, I see no concerted effort to encourage our government and our armed forces that we Americans support any effort, any method, to catch and punish those responsible, and those who support or aid those responsible. Why?

Isn't it time we, as a Nation, the Greatest, most powerful Nation on Earth, stop allowing ourselves to be sucker punched and take it to these murderous bastards in any way, shape or form that will get the job done? Isn't it time we begin a campaign to wipe off the face of the earth these Islamic militants that have twisted their religion to allow the murder of innocent men, women and children? I, as an American citizen, encourage our government and our military to use any method necessary to defeat once and for all this evil, including the wholesale and widespread use of every weapon in our arsenal.

According to the Ministry of Interior, al-Naqshabandi's death sentence was reviewed by the Appeals Committee (hay'at al-tamiz) and the Higher Judicial Council, who on December 2, 1996, ordered the sentence to be carried out. Al-Naqshabandi was executed Friday, December 13, 1996, almost three years after his arrest. Contrary to usual practice, there appears to have been no court session for either the conviction or the sentencing, and apparently al-Naqshabandi did not even know that he had been sentenced to death. Family members and friends who visited al-Naqshabandi in prison on Monday and Tuesday, December 9 and 10, 1996, say that he was in good spirits and promised them that he would be released soon. Indeed, al-Naqshabandi's wife only learned that her husband had been executed when she was telephoned by his brother, who had read it in a newspaper.

In announcing the execution, the Ministry of Interior charged that al-Naqshabandi "undertook the practice of works of magic and spells and possession of a collection of polytheistic and superstitious books." It then justified the execution by arguing that "in view of what magic and witchcraft produce in the way of serious damages to the individual and society with respect to religion, the soul, money and rationality, [and] in that what the defendant did has in it great harm worthy of the severe punishment that cuts short his evil and deters others, it was decided he be sentenced to the discretionary punishment of death."

Are they serious? Yes they are! He never knew that he had been convicted. He never knew that the death sentence was passed. His family found out about the execution from the news papers. They didn't shoot him they didn't hang him or give him a lethal injection they took his head of with a sword.

Crimes Against Children Rise in Pakistan
Some 4,000 children murdered over six years

More than 4,000 children in Pakistan were murdered during the past six years, according to a report released last week by Madadgaar, a non-government organization working to protect children, that elaborates on the state of children in Pakistan.

Unfortunately, violence against children has been accepted and practiced all over the country, the group found. Pakistan's Constitution and legislation bounds the all-state apparatus to protect children. But due to non-implementation of the law, violence against children is increasing.

The report was released on June 4, the eve of the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression; it compiled published cases in print media or research found in alternative authentic sources.

The NGO's researchers collected facts from 26 national and local newspapers in Urdu, English and Sindhi, and found cases of aggression against weak sections of the society, notably children and women.

The report findings show a persistent upward trend in the cases of violence against children.

In 2000, the print media acknowledged 130 cases of child homicide, in 2001 the tally reached 484; in 2002 it was 649; in 2003 newspapers displayed 726 cases of child murder; in 2004 the gory figures reached 766; and last year media reports divulged 934 brutal cases of child murder.

The callous child killing continues this year as media reports have already displayed more than 300 cases of aggression against children.

The print as well as electronic media recently reported the shocking murder of a 14-year-old girl, Noor Jehan, who was a target of a so-called "honor-killing" phenomenon, which is widespread in rural areas of Pakistan.

These cruel incidents show the high level of extremism in rural parts of the country, where such act of aggression against girls has become a routine rather than the exception.

The report informed that child abuse is now in the spotlight of global attention, as an unprecedented endorsement from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) shows an interest of member states to protect children.

But in developing countries like Pakistan, lack of political will and resources are the major factors in strict implementation of CRC.

Other heinous crimes like kidnapping and sexual violence against innocent children are also increasing in the country.

The print media has acknowledged more than 2,000 rape cases against minor girls and 1,800 cases of sodomy against boys during the last six years.

The report claims that more than 17,000 children were kidnapped during last six years and the basic motives behind were old enmity, ransom, and sexual exploitation.

The government has shown no interest to compile statistics about violence against children.

Some citizens have demanded their government keep records or profiles of either the victims, or even more important, a profile of the perpetrators.

Crimes against children took place in all parts of the country; however, the majority of the cases appeared to be from Sindh and Punjab.

Noted human rights lawyer Zia Awan urged the government to adopt a comprehensive policy for the strict implementation of (CRC), the 2000 Juvenile Justice System Ordinance and the 1955 Sindh Children Act to protect the children.

He demanded the courts should take notice of all cases of child physical and sexual abuse and stressed the establishment of crisis centers for children.

Awan also called on national and provincial legislators to play their due role and make child-friendly laws for the betterment of future generations.

On the Boycott of Denmark

All perfect praise is due to Allaah; may Allaah exalt the mention of Prophet Muhammad, his companions and those who follow in his footsteps.

To proceed:

Many voices have sounded the request for stopping the influential boycott against the Danish companies, which was initiated as a consequence of the recent publication of the caricatures that ridiculed the Prophet, sallallaahu’alayhi wa sallam, (may Allaah exalt his mention), and as a result of the reaction of the Danish government towards these caricatures.

In response to this request, some big names from among the Muslim businessmen (may Allaah guide them all) have indeed stopped their boycott. On the one hand, this saddened those Muslims who rose in defense of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, using the weapon of boycott (to the Danish products). On the other hand, this gratified the Danish companies and those who sympathized with and supported them. All this has taken place while the Danish government still insists that there will be no change in their stance or reaction towards the event, reflecting a high level of indifference.

Therefore, we advise all Muslims, especially businessmen and companies, to continue their boycott because it is a very powerful weapon which has proved that it can prevent the aggressors from further aggression, and has made the country of Denmark an example that deters many other countries (from repeating the Danish mistake), in addition to uniting the Muslims on a large scale.

We also advise our brothers who called for lifting of the boycott against the Danish companies to reconsider their statement.

We ask Allaah to guide us all to that which He loves and is pleased with.

The Arab News contains a section once a week where people can ask questions about matters of Saudi Law specifically Labour Law and questions relating to work permits (Iqama) and passports.

This appeared recently:

Up until now I haven't received my new Iqama from my sponsor. He has returned SR 4,000 to me and asked me to find another way to solve my problem. I came to know that there was no record of my Iqama in the Passport Departments computer system. How can I retrieve the rest of my money which I gave to my sponsor to get me a new Iqama?

The problem here is simple, anyone can act as a sponsor, most are at best shady many totally disreputable. Reading the above query what immediately hit me is that an Iqama costs less then SR 1000. It only takes 2/3 days to get one. This man has paid more than SR 4000 of which only SR 4000 has been returned. I know my maid pays SR 8000 for her Iqama. With 6 million expats (many of whom have only basic education and no street smarts), the system is a licence to print money.

The police make little effort to check these con artists and when caught a slap on the wrist is normally the punisment.

The solution is simple. Open an office at the airports and start the processing there. It is totaly unfair to allow this situation to continue. People come here for one reason and they are prey to unscrupulous people that dont give a rat's arse that it is against the law and more important against Islam which they purport to hold so dear.

New Iranian law to require Jews to wear yellow band

A new dress-code law reportedly passed in Iran this past week mandates the government to make sure that religious minorities, Christians, Jews and Zoroastrians, will have to adopt distinct colour schemes to make them identifiable in public, the Canadian National Post reported on Friday.

Jews, under the new law, will have to wear a yellow band on their exterior in public, while Christians will be required to don red ones.

Furthermore, according to the law, the Iranian government has envisioned that all Iranians wear "standard Islamic garments" designed to remove ethnic and class distinctions.
The purpose for the law was to prevent Muslims from becoming najis "unclean" by accidentally shaking the hands of non-Muslims in public.

"The new law resembles the Holocaust," said head of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, Rabbi Marvin Heir, and warned that, "Iran was nearing Nazi Ideology."
According to Army Radio, Wiesenthal Center officials sent a letter to United Nations Director General Kofi Annan urging him "not to ignore" the new law, and reminded him that, "The world ignored Hitler for many years."

The new law was drafted during the presidency of Muhammad Khatami in 2004, but was blocked. That blockage, however, has been removed under pressure from current President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

According to Ahmadinejad, reported the National Post, the new Islamic uniforms will establish "visual equality" for Iranians as they prepare for the return of the Hidden Imam.

The final shape of the uniforms is yet to be established but there is consensus on a number of points.

This must be the only country in the world where you need a visa to get OUT! And you have to pay for it. If the company doesn't exercise their responsibility and get you an Exit Visa (or Exit/Re-entry Visa if you are coming back) you are a prisoner, you cannot leave.

Like all countries you need a work permit. Well imagine this DIFA O&M Co have people working with expired Iqamas (work permits). Not only that some of the later arrivals are working on expired visit visas, totally illegal. Visas and work permits are the responsibility of the company, but if you are caught by the police it is you that gets thrown in gaol.

An Australian acquaintance has been here 8 months, his visit visa ran out in February. He is in legal terms an overstayer and will be subject to deportation.

So his situation is such that he has found employment with another company who will provide him with the proper paperwork but they can only do this if he is outside Saudi Arabia. His problem is that without a current visit visa or Igama he cannot get an exit visa to leave the country. Catch 22.

Having spoken to his embassy it has been determined that if he turns himself in he will pay a fine (about $100) and get 5 days to get out. This suits him fine.

So on Wednesday he arrives at the police station with an embassy official in tow. They talk to the Major and he gives them some paperwork to fill in. With the paperwork done and $100 in his hand he is ready to be given his deportation papers.

The officer said it's past 12 o'clock come back tomorrow. Can you believe they don't arrest people after 12.

As an addendum to the last story the same company has compounds in Al Kharg for Filipino and Pakistani workers. The Pak compound had their water cut off earlier this month and the Flip compound were cut off this week.

Believe it or not the company that had only been serving in an admin role since February, because of their incompetance, have been reinstated as the main contractor.

KARACHI, Pakistan - A Pakistani woman beheaded her husband, chopped up his body and dumped the dismembered parts in a sewerage drain after he announced plans to take a fourth wife, police said on Wednesday.

Police said Majeeda Khatoon killed her husband, a well-off building contractor, while he was asleep, and cut his body into seven pieces with the help of two male relatives in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, a township on the outskirts of the southern city of Karachi.

When we questioned her, after the deceaseds brother came to us for help, she confessed to the crime, police official Nazar Mohammad Mangrio told Reuters.

Khatoon, 45, was arrested late last week and has been remanded in custody while the police frame charges against her.

Khatoon said her 55-year-old husband had taken other wives and flaunted his infidelity, but she was pushed over the edge when he announced plans to take a fourth wife, according to the police officer.

Islam permits men to take up to four wives, and while polygamy is not the norm in Pakistan, it is not rare either.

Afghanistan. An Afghan highway police patrol found K. Suryanarayana's decapitated body in a field near the highway where the telecommunications engineer was abducted Friday in Zabul province, said the provincial police chief, Ghulam Nabi Malakhail.
The leaders of Afghanistan and India condemned the killing, the second of an Indian hostage in southern Afghanistan within the past six months.
"The death of the Indian engineer who was working for the construction and reconstruction of Afghanistan is no doubt the work of enemies of Afghanistan," Afghan President Hamid Karzai said in a statement.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressed his condolences to Suryanarayana's family and urged his country "to remain unified in the face of this terrorism."
Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, who releases regular statements on behalf of outlawed Taliban fighters, said militants shot the Indian after he tried to escape and fought with his captors.
